Scientific department of Agronomy

The aims, subject, functions and objectives of the Department:
- Raising effectiveness of Agronomy field based on institutional and structural reforms, and the analysis of the reform results;
- Working out scientifically proven proposals regarding development of agriculture, food safety and security;
- Preserving unique natural and industrial genuineness of Georgian agrarian field in the conditions when Georgia is joining international organizations;
- Participating in the expertise of completed scientific works and support in the process of its implementation in industry;
- Hearing of the individual plans of the Department staff and member correspondents, and discussion of the results of conducted work;
- Preparing the problems to be discussed on the Presidium of the Academy and on general meetings; also giving recommendations for discussion of particular results on Governmental level;
- Discussion of personal data of the candidates (based on the documents presented) who are to be elected the real members of the Academy, and giving recommendations to them;
- Hearing scientific presentations during the meetings about acute problems and recent achievements in the relevant field.

Scientific department of Animal husbandry, veterinary and livestock products processing
Academician – Secretary of the Department – T. Kurashvili, Academician of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
The aims, subject, functions and objectives of the Department:
- Creating favorable conditions for development of cattle breeding in agro-food sector with the help of implementation of new technologies, also providing training, informing and consulting to farmers and entrepreneurs working in the field.
- Reserving unique natural and industrial authenticity of Georgian cattle breeding field in the conditions when Georgia has joined international organizations;
- Working out scientifically proven innovative schemes for sustainable development of agriculture, food safety and security.
- Hearing of the individual plans of the cattle breeding organizations, scientific centers and discussion of scientific-research problems of study institutions, also, holding discussion of the results of conducted work during the year;
- Hearing of the results of conducted work by the Department; discussion of the individual plans of the department staff, academicians and member correspondents.
- Preparing the problems to be discussed during the Presidium of the Academy and general meetings; also giving recommendations for discussion of particular results of scientific work on Governmental level;

Scientific department for Agroengineering

The aims, subject, functions and objectives of the Department:
-Coordination, analysis, and working out recommendations regarding scientific-researches, machine technologies, agricultural machine construction, engineer services, as well as agriculture electrification and automatization in the field of agro-engineering;
-Coordination of fundamental and applied researches, expertise of completed scientific-researches and technological works and support of further implementation and purposeful utilization;
- Preparing the problems to be discussed during the Presidium of the Academy and general meetings; also giving recommendations for discussion of particular results of scientific work on Governmental level;
- Discussion of personal data of the candidates (based on the documents presented) to be elected in the Academy as real members, and giving recommendations to them;
- Hearing scientific presentations about sensitive problems and recent achievements existed in the relevant field;
- Discussion of recommendations for further implementation and evaluation. The Department organizes scientific and practical conferences regarding the problems it deals with. It participates in the process of sending the staff members and researchers to the scientific centers abroad, hears their reports and presentations about the candidates’ purposeful trips to foreign scientific centers; also participates in the process of definition of scientifically important directions; also presents the results regularly to the Presidium of the Academy for further consideration;
- The Department regularly discusses the research problems studied by relevant scientific bodies; by the end of the year, it presents its final report regarding completed long-term plans of subjects. Also, it discusses the accounts presented by Member-Academicians and Member-Correspondents regarding scientific work carried out by them.
- Department hears and discusses scientific presentations regarding currently existed acute problems and recent achievements in the field;
- Gives recommendations for implementation of innovations and evaluates achievemnts.

Scientific Department of Forestry
Academician – Secretary of the Department – L. Dolidze, Academician of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
The aims, subject, functions and objectives of the Department:
- The analysis of the research-based international materials in the field of preservation and processing of food products, working out recommendations and the presentation of the materials to the Academic Board for discussion.
- Expertise, evaluation of the scientific- technological researches carried out in Georgia in the field of preservation and processing of food products, and presentation of the results to the Academic Board for discussion;
- Discussion and evaluation of the scientific significance of the worked out recommendations for implementation;
- Preparation of the legislative acts and participation in the expertise process in the field of food quality and safety;
- Working out new approaches and theories for further development of food and processing industry and presentation of the recommendations to Academic Board for discussion;
- Discussion of the individual plans of national coordinators of the department;
- Recognition of the best researcher of the year and offering adequate proposal to Academic Board for discussion; The Department discusses the development of dominant and prioritized ways of development of food and processing field and presents to the Academic Board corresponding recommendations; The Department discusses organization of scientific sessions, conferences and meetings, and presents adequate materials to the Academic Board.

Scientific Department of Food Safety and Food Technology

The aims, subject, functions and objectives of the Department:
- Discussing the process of functioning of food safety structure based on the scientific basis;
- Sustaining the academic and scientific potential of the department;
- Organizing meeting and discussions with participation of expert-practitioners regarding the problem of harmonizing Georgian food safety regulations with the European ones;
- Presentation of the results of the discussions to the Academic Board;
- Coordinating the activities carried out by scientific institutions working in the direction of food safety; also, discussing their accounts and preparing expert evaluations to be presented to the Academic Board;
- organizing educational seminars and lectures around food safety problem;

The aims, subject, functions and objectives of the Department:
- Undertaking raising of scientific level of economic effectiveness of agrarian industry through development of potential of field and regional industrial activities and resources;
- Working out management models and recommendations to improve the mechanisms of agriculture and processing industries considering the principles of market economy;
- Working out recommendations and training programs to raise qualifications of farmers and the specialists working in agriculture and putting into practice those recommendations and programs.
