Presidium Meeting of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences
On November 29 of this year, the Presidium Meeting of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences was held. The meeting was attended by both members of the Presidium and invited guests, including the authors of the winning papers in the competition for the Agrarian-Scientist Award announced by the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the newly elected learned secretaries of the scientific departments, and the employees of the Academy's staff.
The Presidium Meeting was held with the following agenda:
1. On the scientific-research work carried out by the Adjara Scientific-Coordination Center of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences in the 3rd quarter. (See presentation at the link)

2. Information - on the results of the Young Scientists Week - “Young Scientists for a Better Future of the Planet” held in the regions of Georgia with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.

3. Information on the results of the competition announced by the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences on October 7, 2017, in accordance with Article 9, Chapter II of its Statute and the Regulation on the Award of Named Prizes to Outstanding Agricultural Scientists.

6. Current Issues
1. Information on the work carried out to establish a public-private partnership network in the direction of promoting the development of science, technology and innovations.

The session was opened and the President of the Academy, Academician Givi Japaridze, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. At his request, the audience paid tribute to the memory of Academician Paata Koghuashvili with a minute of silence. After this, Mr. Givi handed over the speech to the Head of the Academic Department, Dr. Marine Barvenashvili, who presented to the audience the winning papers and authors of the papers in the competition announced by the Academy for the Agrarian-Scientist Prize. An award ceremony was held, at which the President of the Academy presented each winning author with a diploma.
In accordance with the agenda, a number of questions were asked around each issue discussed at the Presidium session, to which the speakers provided exhaustive answers.
Among the issues heard, attention was focused on the Regulation of the learned secretary of the scientific departments of the Academy, which was approved and approved in the presented form. The following persons were elected as learned secretaries of the scientific departments of the Academy:
1. Department of Agronomic Sciences - Doctor of Agriculture Giorgi Gambashidze;
2. Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences - Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Zurab Makaradze;
3. Department of Agroengineering Sciences - Doctor of Engineering Mamuka Benashvili;
4. Department of Environmental Protection and Forestry Sciences - Doctor of Agriculture Zviad Tiginashvili;
5. Department of Food Safety and Food Technology Sciences - Doctor of Chemistry Darejan Dughashvili;
6. Department of Economic Sciences - Doctor of Economics Nato Jabnidze.
The President of the Academy also informed the audience of the decision of the Board of Presidents of the International Academy of Engineering, on the basis of which his assistant, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Tamaz Batsikadze, was awarded the Medal "For Engineering Courage".
